Yup, I tend to get overly enthusiastic when something catches my interest.
Thus it was with ClickZ's June 2003 Weblog Conference in Boston this week.
Although the semantic (what “is” a blog?) discussions were fascinating, it's true that very little concrete info was imparted about businesses that are currently blogging.
Jason Butler of BostonWorks.com makes this point clearly. He was one of the panelists who talked about “managing a business blog.” No sexy case studies (showing quantifiable results) because there really aren't any at this point. The reason is that a lot of corporations using Weblogs are doing so internally, behind a firewall.
So, yes, the blogging phenomenon is real. But it's truly nascent in business.
