A small group of DC digerati had the rare opportunity yesterday to hear bestselling business author and provocateur Tom Peters talk in an intimate setting. Tom was the featured speaker at my Sweets and Tweets event, a cupcake and social media salon held at the very cool Baked and Wired in Georgetown.
His topic was, loosely, Innovation, Prosperity and Social Media. As expected, Tom riffed on a number of topics from privacy (he believes in it) to the importance of doing business face-to-face (it’s crucial). He arrived in a blue jean shirt and red baseball cap, and spoke off-the-cuff from some index cards with a few notes on them.

Click here to see what Tom scribbled on his note cards. It’s his blog write-up of what he calls his “first ‘presentation’ [in quotes] about social media.”
Don’t miss the June 15th Sweets and Tweets!
Come for cupcakes and wine (new location) and to hear a panel discussion with DC’s Most Influential Women in Technology, as named by Fast Company.
Tom is co-author of the classic, In Search of Excellence, author of over a dozen other books and has just published a new book, The Little BIG Things [links to my review]. Irreverent, passionate and iconoclastic, Tom is considered the most important business thinker since Peter Drucker.
